Tom and Mike at the bowling club

On Sunday I visited Bristol St. Andrews Bowling Club for their end of season open tournament.

The club, based on Derby Rd, is about to begin a six month project to refurbish their clubhouse thanks to a grant of £50,000 from the Cory Environmental Trust in Britain (CETB). I was very happy to support their application, along with Ashley ward Councillor Mike Davies. Both of us agree that this refurbishment will do wonders for the club and wider community, which is why we were all too happy to write letters of support.

CETB distributes grants using money from the Landfill Communities Fund. Find out more about applying for funding for your organisation here: http://www.cetb.org.uk/

The club’s building was opened in 1924 and extended in the 1960s, so this money will be put to good use on modernisation and improvements, including to accessibility, health & safety and energy efficiency.

Ultimately the money will help to secure the building’s future for the club and local residents. Organisations like this are the lifeblood of our community -; long may they continue!
