On the 3rd May the new Bishopston Library was officially opened.

It’s great to see the library, on the corner of Gloucester Road and Berkeley Road, open after so long in the making. It’s a brilliant space inside and was practically buzzing when I was there at the opening and again at the weekend. Hopefully? this will become a well-valued asset for the community.

The opening hours are as follows:

Monday – 1pm to 7pm

Tuesday – Closed

Wednesday – 11am to 5pm

Thursday – 11am to 5pm

Friday – 11am to 5pm

Saturday – 11am to 5pm

Sunday – Closed

There are also going to be events – check the Bristol Libraries Facebook page for details: https://www.facebook.com/BristolLibraries/

And if anyone is interested in forming part of a new “Friends of” group, please let me know.

Those familiar with the site will know that the library, situated in the new building at the Bristol North Baths on Gloucester Road, has been a long time coming. After mismanagement from the previous Council administration and the initial contractor (who then went bust), it’s taken ages to get this project going forward.

After campaigning to get the Baths project back underway I’ve been very happy that it is now being pushed forward under this new Labour city administration. Now that the new build (flats and library) is open, I look forward to the completion of the old building renovation.
