Do you live in Bishopston & Ashley Down? Are you sure? The boundaries of the ward are changing -; make sure you know if you’re affected!

The changes have come about from an independent review by the Local Government Boundary Commission for England. The commission has sought to make the ward boundaries across Bristol fairer and more representative.

What this means for Bishopston ward is that, firstly, it will be renamed to Bishopston & Ashley Down. Geographically, the area to the south of Bristol on the west of Gloucester Road will move into Redland ward. Also, some streets around Wellington Hill Playing Field will move from Horfield ward into Bishopston & Ashley Down. The area will, however, remain in the Bristol North West parliamentary constituency. The map below shows the boundaries of the new Bishopston & Ashley Down ward (click for a larger version).

What do you need to do if you’re affected? If you’re already registered to vote, then nothing. If not, then make sure you register; it’s really easy to do so online here: https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote. If you’re not sure whether you’re registered, why risk not being able to vote? There’s no harm in registering again.
